During the race, Ferrari will have to make the right choices
Strong from its victory in the centenary edition, Scuderia Ferrari will face an even bigger competition to defend its title. This will require a perfect execution of strategy and driving.

Winning Le Mans is one thing. But defending your crown, especially with a crazy field on all levels. Ferrari is on a mission against eight other manufacturers in Hypercar, the same number in LMGT3.
Wednesday, at the beginning of the day, the director of Ferrari Competizioni GT, Ferdinando Cannizzo, had the opportunity to provide an update on what awaits the Prancing Horse at Le Mans.
Whatever the crews, everything is ready according to the Italian standard. And everything will have to be put end to end. « We have the performance, no doubt about it. It will be very important to show cooperation at all levels and to display flawless consistency. Especially since the conditions are announced to be whimsical.
The centenary had been marked by a mix of good weather and rain. And if it happens again this year, the mistakes made in Imola must not be repeated. Taking into account the evolution of the weather, warming up the tires when exiting the pits will force us to make the right choices,” adds Cannizzo. It is a crucial aspect of the race and will impact the strategy.
The 296 GT3: a good starting point
As a Competizioni GT director, Ferdinando Cannizzo couldn’t not talk about the successor to the 488 GTE: the 296 GT3, which will have five teams representing it at Le Mans this year.
There is reason to be confident with this car, even though it has not yet scored a podium in the world championship. It’s an excellent foundation for us, since we already have a year of experience with the 296,” Cannizzo said. “We won the 24 Hours of Nurburgring with it, proving that it is an excellent tool for a race of this length.”
But to win, performance alone is not enough: everyone must feel good at the Scuderia. To ensure that everything goes well, we must establish an atmosphere of trust and calm. Panic and distrust are never good allies: our victory last year was the result of a good mindset. This year, it will be difficult against the competition. But we will be calm,” concludes Cannizzo. It will remain to be seen what effect this trust will have on the final result.
