A significant sum. On the occasion of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, two teams have shown their generosity. The Belgian WRT team (BMW) and Porsche have decided to rally together to raise funds for several charities.

WRT initially raised €12,500. This amount was collected thanks to donations from the team and its parent company, the Weerts group. Other partners also contributed, such as Skechers, who provided a pair of sports shoes to each child, and BMW, who supplied a Lego set allowing young people to build their own BMW M4 GT3 and BMW M Hybrid V8, the team specified in a press release.

All donations will directly support Ulrich Meinzer’s research project, which is advancing studies on juvenile idiopathic arthritis. This condition involves persistent joint inflammation, typically presenting as pain, swelling, and reduced mobility.

One completed tour = 750 euros

We had the privilege of welcoming Timo, Anna, and Joe, who suffer a lot from their arthritis, for a VIP day. These brave young people radiate so much positive energy that it was a real pleasure for us. Their joy and enthusiasm have been a source of inspiration for the whole team, and we hope to extend this beautiful encounter in the long term. These strong moments remind us of the importance of commitment and solidarity in everything we undertake, Kathleen Schurmans, co-president of Team WRT, said.

On the other hand, Porsche has decided to donate 750 € for each lap completed by the three official 963 during the 24 Hours. This therefore amounts to a total of 624,750 €. The German manufacturer then decided to increase the total to 911,000 €. « The approved associations Kinderherzen retten (Save children’s hearts) and Interplast Germany will each receive 350,000 euros from the funds collected. The Ferry Porsche Foundation will receive 211,000 euros for new initiatives to support sick children and their families », detailed the Stuttgart brand.
