His results in other endurance series have convinced Peugeot. After starting in LMP3 in 2020, Malthe Jakobsen was crowned European Le Mans Series (ELMS) champion in the same category in 2022. A performance that earned him a big gift. That of driving the 9X8 during the rookie test at the end of 2022.

Promoted to the LMP2 category in 2023, the Danish driver won the title in the Asian Le Mans Series. The Team Peugeot once again offered him the opportunity to drive the Hypercar on the Bahrain circuit before appointing him as a junior official driver, and then as a reserve driver for the 2024 season during which he completed numerous simulator sessions.

His rapid progress then allowed him to become a regular member of the French team. Next year, he will replace Nico Muller for the entire season of the World Endurance Championship. “I am very happy to join the Peugeot team as an official driver next season. I am very proud to be part of this team for two years, first as a Junior driver and this year as a reserve driver. Thank you to the whole team for offering me this great opportunity,” reacted Malthe Jakobsen.

Malthe has proven that he has not only talent, but also the attitude and work ethic necessary to succeed at the highest level of motor racing. We look forward to seeing what he will bring to the team in 2025 as we continue to develop our program,” says Olivier Jansonnie, Technical Director of Peugeot in WEC.
