WEC 2025: Cadillac and Jota say yes

The WEC has been constantly evolving since the introduction of the Hypercar in 2021. And Cadillac, which entered in 2023, has not achieved the expected results globally, with only one podium so far, during the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (3rd place for car N°2).

The context of this year was not the easiest for General Motors, as their historical partner, Chip Ganassi, did not wish to renew the Cadillac adventure. The V Series R LMDh found themselves without a operating team, which is mandatory in the Hypercar regulations, even if factory teams are allowed.

Porsche will then have to do without one of its private teams, while the Stuttgart manufacturer played this year by the numbers policy. Jota will become the factory team of Cadillac as of next year, with two cars, as required for 2025. The announcement was made through a short video on social networks, as presented here on the team’s website.

A real added value for Cadillac

Chip Ganassi is an imposing and prestigious organization. But its Cadillac program in WEC has not been crowned with the expected success, despite better results in IMSA, across the Atlantic. On the other hand, Jota has been making waves since the beginning of this season.

Porsche No. 12 (Callum Ilott/Norman Nato/Will Stevens) became the first Privateer Hypercar (excluding Glickenhaus at the time) to clinch a podium at the 1812 kilometers of Qatar. It was also the first to win a WEC race in the overall standings, during the crazy 6 Hours of Spa. A race that, as a sign of destiny, had shifted with the crash of Cadillac No. 2 driven by Earl Bamber.

For the American brand, like WRT with BMW, this partnership with Jota could bear fruit, thanks to the excellent operational capabilities of the British team. And ensure the medium-term presence of the manufacturer and its very popular prototypes, recognizable among a thousand just by their sound. As for the identity of the drivers, it should be revealed shortly.
