The Pure Rxcing Porsche is making things difficult for itself at Fuji

Only qualified in 14th place at the 6 Hours of Fuji, the Porsche #92 will have to make a big comeback to finish in the points. A situation that will complicate its title quest in Japan.

Second in Qatar. First in Imola. Ninth in Spa. Second in Le Mans. Second in Sao Paulo. Fourth in Austin. Then things started to get complicated. Fourteenth in Fuji. For the first time this season, the Pure Rxcing Porsche completely missed its qualifying session.

Underperformance that comes at the worst time while the car has the opportunity to win the GT3 title as soon as at this event. I did my best and didn’t make any mistakes, but that’s all we could do today. Our starting position is not very good. I hope we can correct one or two things before the start to improve our performance, summarizes Alex Malykhin, driver of the #92 during the quick lap exercise.

Fortunately for the Porsche team, the rival car, the #91, did not manage to achieve a better performance at Fuji. The Manthey EMA Porsche only achieved the fifteenth best time in the session.

Despite Pure Rxcing’s far from ideal position, it has a slight advantage over the other Porsche competing for the title. But to secure it, they will need to climb back up in the standings. As quickly as possible, while distancing themselves from #91.

To hope to win the title, the #92 will have to finish at least on the podium and the other Porsche not do better than ninth. This seems complicated as both cars have dominated the championship this season. In Austin, the #91 had started from sixteenth place and finished in third position, just behind the Pure Racing.
