Antonio Fuoco: « A Top 5 finish is already good »
Ferrari No. 50, mathematically in contention for the title, finished in 5th place in the Hyperpole of the 8 Hours of Bahrain. Its qualifying specialist, Antonio Fuoco, believes he did his best.

In a championship as competitive as the WEC, it is difficult to have the best of both worlds. The Ferrari No. 50 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year and still has slim chances of seeing its drivers crowned against the Porsche No. 6. But the task ahead looks challenging in this regard.
Antonio Fuoco took the wheel, as usual, for the qualifications on Friday for the 8 Hours of Bahrain. However, the cooler conditions did not make it easier for the Italian, with a 5th place on the grid.
« It was quite complicated throughout the session,” he said. « We were not able to get where we wanted to be. Everything that was in our hands today was truly maximized.”
That being said, the Ferrari driver does not intend to bite the hand that feeds him: this 5th place is already a guarantee of being in the right group during the race. Especially since the pace on long stints can completely compensate for a lesser performance on one lap.
Honestly, a Top 5 is already good, it proves that we are present. We must also take into account that our competitors are very strong: we just have to give our best and we’ll see how the race goes.
For your information, Ferrari No. 50 is 35 points behind Porsche No. 6, which will start just behind. Knowing that there are now 38 points left to distribute (the pole position point having been taken), the prospect of a championship would be nothing short of a miracle. This would require a victory, which would be the first for the Prancing Horse outside of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since its return to prototypes.
