It’s moving. In all categories. LMGT3, LMP2, and Hypercar. Access to the Hyperpole for the next edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be completely different. Up to now, the eight fastest cars in each category during qualifying accessed the final phase to compete for pole position.

To offer competitors and spectators an even more amazing show on the track, the qualifying format is innovating, explains the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, the event organizer, in a statement.

But in next June, this rule will change. On Wednesday, June 11, after the first free practice session, competitors entered in LMP2 and LMGT3 will set off for 30 minutes of qualifying. The twelve best cars in each category will advance to the Hyperpole the next day.

12 cars in GT3 and LMP2

On Thursday, the Hyperpole will be divided into two sessions. In the first one, all competitors will be lined up. The top eight in each category will be allowed to participate in the second phase to compete for the pole position.

In Hypercar, the top fifteen drivers will qualify for the first phase of the Hyperpole. Here, the top ten fastest drivers will compete for pole position during the second phase, which will last 15 minutes, of the Hyperpole, called H2.
