McLaren announces two new drivers for its GT3 program in WEC
The crew of car #95 is now known. At the start of the year, McLaren and United Autosports unveiled the names of the two drivers recruited.

We know a little more about McLaren’s presence in the World Endurance Championship in 2025. The British brand, run by United Autosports, has announced the arrival of two new drivers for the upcoming WEC races.
Darren Leung is the first man to be introduced by McLaren. Coming from BMW and WRT, he finished fourth in the championship in 2024, including a second place at the 6 Hours of Imola at the start of the season. He repeated this feat with car #31 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Two out of three drivers are new.
« I am thrilled to join United Autosports and McLaren for the 2025 World Endurance Championship season. Their commitment to their WEC program is truly inspiring, and I am eager to contribute to the team’s efforts as we tackle some of the world’s most iconic tracks. As a proud Yorkshire resident, racing for a team based in Yorkshire makes this opportunity even more special. I look forward to seeing our national flag raised on the top step of the podium », reacted the driver who is classified as bronze by the FIA.
Darren Leung will team up with Sean Gelael, who also comes from WRT. The Indonesian already has a notable track record in the World Endurance Championship. He has completed four seasons in this discipline with, among other achievements, two second-place finishes in the LMP2 standings in 2021 and 2022.
Experience
« I am very enthusiastic about being with United Autosports, after having been long-time rivals. I think it will be a very good experience and a good opportunity to win the championship after finishing second twice… the fifth time will be the charm! I’m looking forward to racing with Marino for the first time and, of course, working again with Darren after the great times we had together in 2024 », rejoiced the man with two podiums at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The two drivers will be alongside Marino Sato, who was already present last year at the wheel of the McLaren GT3 EVO #95.
