The Aston Martin Valkyrie continues its progress

After a retirement and an almost anonymous race at the 1.812 km of Qatar, the Aston Martin Valkyrie increased its level of performance in IMSA, at Sebring.

The most anticipated hypercar of 2025. With its magnificent V12 reminiscent of the greatest moments in motorsport, the Aston Martin has turned all heads during its previous outings, at least for its sound. A little less for its performance.

The British racing car struggled during its first race in the World Endurance Championship, on the 1,812 km of Qatar. One of the two cars had to retire in complete anonymity, while the other crossed the finish line not without being seriously behind its competitors.

If the performance of the Aston Martin was well below expectations, the car, by the end of the race, kept pace with the winning Ferrari. So there is some hope for the remainder of the season.

These hopes materialized across the Atlantic. At the 12 Hours of Sebring, the Valkyrie finished in the Top 10 for the first time, securing a ninth place at the finish. A notable result for a debut entry here. Admittedly, Aston Martin had some foundation here since pre-season testing was conducted, but Sebring is known for torturing cars.

The numerous bumps put a strain on the mechanics and the various aerodynamic elements that hit the often concrete surface of the track.

With this ninth place, in a very tough and competitive IMSA championship – almost more so than the WEC since there are only LMDh and no LMh – the Valkyrie has managed to make a mark. This demonstrates that Aston Martin is beginning to understand its Hypercar. The increased performance of the car clearly shows that this project is not just a mere way to have fun and advertise a brand.

In just a few outings, the Valkyrie has managed to make the Lamborghini SC63 seem like a useless gadget whose involvement in endurance racing is increasingly being questioned. Unfortunately, almost no one is interested in the Italian car anymore due to its mediocre level of performance.

There, with the Aston Martin, we can really expect true development and great things in the coming weeks. After a stint in the United States, the Valkyrie will have to confirm its good form from Sebring during the 6 Hours of Imola in mid-April. As a reminder, the second round of the World Endurance Championship is scheduled for April 18-19-20.
