24 Hours of Le Mans car for sale on Leboncoin
A rather unusual sale. A Peugeot 905 Spider which took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans is for sale on Leboncoin. The car may not have made history through its performance, but it's a collector's item worth acquiring.

You really can find anything on the Internet. But a Le Mans 24 Hours car on Leboncoin? That’s unexpected. Traditionally, this kind of vehicle is listed on specialist websites or sold through prestigious houses like RM Sotheby’s.
Since March 27, things seem to have changed. A resident of Cholet posted a rather unusual ad on Leboncoin. The listing? A Peugeot 905 Spider. While its shape may remind you of the car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, we’re actually quite far from that legendary prototype.
In 1992, the Le Mans regulations allowed vehicles from the Coupe Spider 905 and the Alfa Romeo Prototype Cup to enter the race, provided they met the required standards. These cars ran in the C4 category. This change was made to attract more entrants, as the number of participants was drastically falling. That year, only 28 cars started the race — a far cry from the 62 on the grid last year.
Back to this 905 Spider. Far less competitive than the top prototypes, the car bearing #66 — now for sale — had a very quiet race. Though it saw the chequered flag, it was not classified by the race stewards. With a deficit of 274 laps compared to the actual Peugeot 905 driven by Warwick, Blundell, and Dalmas, it hadn’t completed the required 70% of the winner’s distance to be officially ranked.
According to the seller, the car has seen little track time since the double round-the-clock challenge. « After the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the car was stored until 1994 when it was rented out to drivers for a few races in the Coupe Spider 905, with a coupe body and compliant engine. The car for sale today has therefore run very little since 1994. The gearbox is the one from the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It has been completely rebuilt (dog rings, bearings, lubrication pump) and has only been on track twice since. The wheel bearings are new, the shock absorbers have been rebuilt, and the ball joints changed where necessary. Wheel alignment and corner balancing have been done. The engine is from the 1994 Coupe. It too has been serviced. The timing belt needs replacing (it’s the same as the 405 MI16), and the fluids need changing… The original Le Mans kevlar-carbon bodywork is included and still has all its original race decals, » the ad reads.
This 905 Spider is eligible for the Le Mans Classic in the Group C field, the Dix Mille Tours, the French Historic Grand Prix, Historic T, and HVM events. The price? €99,900.
