Audi sells former LMP1 and DTM cars
Audi breaks its codes. For the first time in its history, the brand with the rings will be selling former racing models. These cars were entered in endurance and DTM racing.
Audi RS 5 DTM. Audi R18 e-tron quattro. For the first time in its history, race machines from Audi’s former factory racing programs are now available for purchase as exclusive, ready-to-drive vehicles.
Potential buyers will be able to acquire an RS 5 DTM. The chassis on offer is the very one that won the 2015 DTM finale at Hockenheim with Timo Scheider behind the wheel. The R18 e-tron quattro will also be up for sale. This car secured its first victory at the 6 Hours of Spa in 2012, driven by Romain Dumas, Loïc Duval, and Marc Gené.
« We are converting these chassis, paired with reconditioned parts from their time, into race cars built to strict standards and with a high level of expertise. In some cases, the original developers are even involved in the current projects. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro and RS 5 DTM are among the fastest race cars we have ever built, » explains Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport.
A select group had the opportunity to witness the unveiling of these models on Wednesday, April 2. This new project will then be showcased to motorsport specialists from May 9 to 11 at the Jim Clark Revival in Hockenheim (Germany), from July 3 to 6 at Le Mans Classic (France), and from July 10 to 13 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (United Kingdom). The first car will be sold and delivered to its new owner this summer.
