24 Hours of Le Mans – Test day: Toyota responds to Ferrari in second session
The #8 Toyota beat the best time of the morning session and was the fastest of the test day. The Ferraris remained in ambush.

It didn’t take long for the lap times to tumble. From the first hour of running, drivers were beating the morning benchmarks. Toyota, thanks to #8, went under the 3:27 mark. The Japanese hypercar was closely followed by Ferrari #51.
The session was interrupted by a red flag with 1 hour and 36 minutes remaining. The BMW #20, which had the fourth provisional time at that moment, was affected by a mechanical issue at the entrance of the S Porsche and had to stop. The session was able to resume fairly quickly.
A second red flag, caused by the Proton Competition #11, interrupted this session with just over half an hour remaining. The LMP2 hit at Indianapolis. Even though the damage was relatively minor, the track needed to be cleaned and debris collected.
The hierarchy hadn’t changed in the Hypercar category. Toyota #8 was still in the lead, ahead of Ferrari #51 and #83. The cars ran much faster than this morning. All the hypercars went under the 3:30′ mark.
The session ended with a new red flag. The best time went to the Toyota #8, ahead of the Ferrari #51 and the Alpine #36.
