We didn’t really know what to expect. Valkyries deployed? Hypercars battling for points? Or a lack of reliability? In the end, none of that.

Even though the Aston Martins remain among the slowest cars on the grid, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, they were perfect. Under regular conditions, the #009 was close to making it to the hyperpole. With the penalty for the Porsche #6, it was able to advance to the second part of qualifying.

In the race, the pace wasn’t too present at the beginning. Just enough time to find their bearings since the two cars ran at very interesting times for a first in Sarthe. « You can really see the car progress since the start of the season », noted Harry Tincknell before the race. He was right.

Even in terms of reliability, the V12s performed perfectly. The full-scale tests as well as the 24 Hours of Daytona at the beginning of the year likely helped achieve such a result.

The big positive side is that both cars were not dropped. They finished at a reasonable distance from the Ferrari #83: four laps for the #009 and six for the #007. Although one lap from the points zone, the two green cars produced an impressive result.

Traditionally, the 24 Hours of Le Mans cause a lot of damage among the competitors. But this year, mechanical problems were rare, except for Cadillac. So for Aston Martin, delivering such a performance in another edition could work in their favor.

With this performance, it’s a safe bet that the Valkyries could enter the top 10 by Bahrain.
