A tough blow for Ferrari. While the Scuderia had practically executed the perfect race with three cars in the top 4, there are finally only two. On Monday, June 16, very late at night, the race stewards released a new statement.

This concerns the Ferrari #50. It indicates that violations of the technical regulations have been noted. Firstly, the rear wing is under scrutiny: four bolts were missing, which does not comply with the homologation of this part. Secondly, an excessive deformation of the rear wing, measuring 52 mm while the maximum tolerance is 15 mm, has been highlighted.

These two infractions were noted at 3:23 PM, during the last pit stop of the car. The Scuderia had then decided not to repair the wing because it was in the battle for the podium. But Ferrari explained that it had no impact on the performance of the 499P. The fact that the car achieved its best lap on the 380th of 387 had no connection.

All the Hypercars classified behind therefore gain a place. The two Alpines therefore score points for this fourth round of the WEC season.
