6 Hours of Sao Paulo: race stakes
Cadillac on pole, Porsche in ambush and Ferrari far behind. The 6 Hours of Sao Paulo promises to be full of suspense and racing action. Will the Scuderia's domination come to an end here?

As in Le Mans, Alex Lynn, driving the Cadillac #12, secured pole position at Interlagos. During the qualifying session, the American cars were impressive as they recorded the two best times. However, after this session, the #38 was penalized by one position for obstructing a Peugeot. It will therefore start in third place, just behind the Porsche #5.
« I am quite satisfied with this result because we made significant progress during the free practice sessions and optimized the performance potential of our 963 over one lap. In terms of lap times, we couldn’t beat the two Cadillacs. We had a lot of fun on the track. But the race is yet to come. We will prepare properly and hope to finish on the podium », announced Julien Andlauer, driver of the Porsche 2nd on the grid.
No Ferrari in the front rows. What a surprise, given how they dominate this championship. Qualified in the second half of the grid, like the Toyota #7, they will be forced into a frantic comeback to hope for a good result. After four consecutive victories in the WEC, their domination could end in Sao Paulo.
Points for Aston Martin?
The Peugeots, 4th and 6th, can hope for great things. They have raised their game after a disappointing 24 Hours of Le Mans. Malthe Jakobson was perfect during the hyperpole to place his #94 on the second row. « These were my first qualifications in WEC and I want to thank the team for trusting me and giving me a comfortable and high-performing car to drive. I loved these two sessions, it was very exciting to drive this hypercar to the limit, with little fuel, to achieve the best lap possible. Interlagos is a very short track, so it wasn’t easy to have a clear lap in the first session. For the hyperpole, there were eight fewer cars, and I felt good in the car. We finished P4. It’s very satisfying, but the race is going to be long », he emphasized.
At the edge of the top 10, the Aston Martins can aim for points, their first of the year. After a very nice progression throughout the season, finishing in the first part of the standings would be an excellent result. For Alpine, they will have to work hard. The A424s completely missed their session and will need to step on the gas to climb back up the hierarchy.
A podium for Eduardo Barrichello at home?
In GT3, Racing Spirit of Léman was outstanding. Eduardo Barrichello, competing at home, secured pole position for his second participation in the hyperpole. In front of his home crowd, the Brazilian will be highly motivated. Well supported by Valentin Hasse-Clot, the leader of the Aston Martin #10, the Franco-Swiss team could aim high.
However, caution will be needed with the Lexuses, which have once again been very strong throughout the weekend. The Corvettes, which are comfortable on this Interlagos track, should not be forgotten. On the Porsche front, the Iron Dames are capable of scoring points and forgetting the disappointment of the Le Mans race. The #92 from Manthey always has strong race pace, so watch out for it. But, one must not forget one factor: overtaking at Interlagos is not easy.
Meeting at 4:30 PM for the departure.
