The French Historic Grand Prix takes place this weekend at Le Castellet
The Grand Prix de France Historique is one of the major international events in the automotive world, and takes place from April 19 to 21 at the Circuit Paul Ricard.

In the absence of finding the Castellet circuit on the F1 calendar, the Grand Prix de France Historique will have its sixth edition. The fourth in a row organized on the Paul Ricard track this weekend, on April 19, 20, and 21.
The opportunity to go back in time. The program is based on previous editions. It is developed by HVM Racing in partnership with the FFSA (French Federation of Automobile Sport) and the circuit. In 2023, the event had gathered 52,000 spectators.
The theme of the history of Formula 1 single-seaters will be at the heart of the event. The audience will be able to attend races on Saturday and Sunday with a grid consisting of F1 cars from the 60s/70s/80s.
Great moments on the track
The Historic French Grand Prix offers a program of international competitions to bring to the forefront multiple chapters of the great history of motor racing.
There will also be great moments to experience on the track by watching the races of the F2 Classic InterSeries (pre-1979 F2 cars) and F3 Classic InterSeries (pre-1985 F3 cars).
GTs and Prototypes from the 2000s, seen at Le Mans, will pay tribute to the great hours of endurance at the invitation of the Masters Endurance Legends, other cars of this type, older, will be expected to start the 200 km of the GPFH. There will also be a special place for the Lotus Trophy and the Ferrari GT Club Deutschland.
Prestigious guests
Jacky Ickx will honor us with his presence to take a lap behind the wheel of one of his Ferrari F1 cars from that era. Franck Montagny was also supposed to participate but in the end will not be available in support of the F1 Chinese Grand Prix for Canal+.
Alain Prost, four-time Formula 1 world champion, will hit the track at the wheel of one of the iconic cars of his career: the McLaren M29, which he drove at the beginning of his Formula 1 career in 1980, see you on Saturday at 12:55 pm. Jean Alesi, president of the Paul Ricard circuit and former driver, will parade with his Ferrari F1 from 1994.
The Grand Prix de France Historique pays tribute to the memory of Ayrton Senna, 30 years after his passing. A major exhibition will be dedicated to him. On the track, one of his most iconic cars, the McLaren MP4/6 Honda from his third world title in 1991, will be in action. Austrian driver Gerhard Berger, his teammate at the time in the McLaren team, has agreed to take the wheel again for the occasion. Catch it on Saturday at 11:20 and Sunday at 12:18.
An iconic duel. The battle between Gilles Villeneuve and René Arnoux, in the last laps of the 1979 French Grand Prix, has remained in everyone’s memory. 45 years later, the Paul Ricard audience will have the privilege of witnessing its remake with the entry on track of the two spectacular F1 cars of the time: the Renault RS10 still driven by René Arnoux and the Ferrari 312 T of Gilles Villeneuve, now in the hands of its current owner.
The appointment is on Saturday at 1:13 PM and Sunday at 2:00 PM.
On the sidelines of the races, no less than four single-seater parades will succeed on the track on both Saturday and Sunday. The opportunity to see F1 cars, around 70 single-seaters of all categories, notably former Red Bull Toro Rosso cars. But also other festivities to discover throughout the weekend.
Rates
You will need to spend 50€ for a pass valid for all three days, 30€ on Saturday and 40€ on Sunday. Entry is free for children under 9 years old and costs 10€ for a three-day pass for children under 16 years old.
