Piastri: Not a week in F1 without some comments from Helmut
Oscar Piastri reacted to Helmut Marko's statements, who suggested that Red Bull was trying to discuss with the Australian for the future. Reminding that he was happy at McLaren, the winner of Baku avoided addressing the rumors.

Helmut Marko is not one to hold back his tongue, especially when it comes to talking about drivers from rival teams. The latest example: his statement about Oscar Piastri in an interview with F1-Insider.com, in which the special advisor to Red Bull stated: “Let’s say it like it is: Mark Webber is actively seeking a discussion.”
The future of Sergio Perez at Red Bull is uncertain, with the Mexican going through a 2024 season that he himself described as dreadful before his home Grand Prix in Mexico. The Austrian management is not ruling out any options for a possible replacement of their number 11 driver in the coming months. Racing Bulls drivers, Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson, seem to be the favorites in this scenario. Oscar Piastri, whose transfer rumors started to grow after Marko’s statements, has ruled out any possibility of joining the Milton Keynes team.
Piastri is more than happy at McLaren
If the Australian described Red Bull’s interest as a beautiful compliment, he specified that there was nothing true in Helmut Marko’s statement. “It wouldn’t be a week in F1 without some comments from Helmut,” added Piastri in front of the press before the Mexican Grand Prix.
With two wins in his second Formula 1 season, the Australian driver is showcasing all his talents this season with the Papaya team. His brilliant victory in Azerbaijan revealed the full potential of the 23-year-old driver for the future. In a team fighting for the constructors’ title, he emphasized that he was more than happy within the Woking team. “The team has massively supported me since my arrival in F1, they gave me my chance in F1. At the moment, we are very satisfied in the standings, so I am more than happy with my current situation.”
After eight races in the top 4 (including six podiums and two victories), Oscar Piastri had a difficult weekend in Austin, finishing fifth in the main race. He hopes to bounce back this weekend at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, at the risk of seeing Red Bull and/or Ferrari make a comeback in the constructors’ championship.
