Silverstone Testing – Day 2: Bottas As He Started
The young driver tests conclude with the fastest time for Valtteri Bottas and his Williams. Only Max Chilton and Rio Haryanto, driving Marussia, accompanied him on this day run on the "International" track of the circuit.

After a first day already dominated by the third Williams driver, the Silverstone young driver tests ended in the same manner. On a day that began with a slightly damp but drying track, run on the “International” configuration of the circuit – which you can view by following this link – Valtteri Bottas was in control, with competition consisting of a single Marussia, as HRT preferred to pack up.
The Finnish driver – whom we interviewed during the last British Grand Prix – covered a total of 170 laps on the 2978-meter track, the best in 0:48.963. The work initially focused on testing related to engine temperature before moving on to aerodynamics and data collection, with sensors installed in various locations on the FW34.
At Marussia, Max Chilton ranks second with a time of 0:49.932 (52 laps), ahead of Rio Haryanto with a time of 0:50.405 (79 laps). The Indonesian driver, who only ran in the morning session, successfully covered the 300 km required over the two days to obtain his Super License. The Marussia MR01 was in the configuration used during the last Grand Prix, with new exhausts and a modified nose which were subjected to aerodynamic tests, particularly using green flow visualization liquid.
The rest of the teams should conduct their own young driver test sessions in Abu Dhabi, following the Grand Prix scheduled in November.
