Magnussen and Pérez penalized on the grid in Abu Dhabi
Perez and Magnussen are the two drivers penalized for engine parts changes, Charles Leclerc drops three places for causing an accident in Sakhir.

At the end of the season, the machines have been extensively tested. Some have suffered more than others. It’s likely that other mechanical setbacks will need to be considered before the start of the race.
At this moment, two drivers will be penalized for engine component changes:
- Sergio Perez will benefit from new MGU-H, ICE, and turbo to participate in the final runs of the 2020 season. As a reminder, each driver has a quota of three units for each of these elements. The Mexican driver will use a fourth unit of each, which penalizes him by… thirty places.
He should thus start from the last row during this final race. Let’s hope this position brings him as much success as last week. Indeed, after being hit by Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, he managed to overtake each of his opponents one by one to finally claim his first victory in the discipline.
Let’s remember that he is fighting to keep his fourth place in the drivers’ championship.
Moreover, Racing Point is also fighting for the third place in the constructors’ championship.
– Kevin Magnussen is the second driver to be affected by mechanical failures. On his Haas, the battery and electronic management unit must be replaced. Drivers are only allowed two units of each element, and the Danish driver will use a third of each this weekend.
Given the pure performance of his American single-seater, we should also find him on the last row for Sunday’s race.
A race weekend that starts in the worst possible way as he prepares to experience what seems to be his last race in Formula 1.
Driver penalized for dangerous behavior:
These two penalties come after that of Charles Leclerc, known earlier in the week. Deemed responsible for the accident also involving Sergio Perez, the Monegasque received a three-place grid penalty.
