The Yas Marina circuit will have a “banking” similar to a speedway ring
This Thursday, the organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix unveiled the modifications that the Yas Marina circuit will undergo this summer. A "banking" will make its appearance on the Emirati track.

We announced it earlier this week. The Yas Marina circuit will undergo modifications this summer. The aim of these changes is to try to increase the spectacle on a track that is regularly criticized for its lack of action.
This Thursday, the organizers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix unveiled the areas that will be affected by the works. In a photo posted by F1 on Instagram, we can count 3 main changes.
The chicane located before the hairpin leading to the very long straight will be removed and the track will be widened, offering several trajectories to the drivers. The left-right-left turns sequence at the end of the opposite straight will also be removed in favor of a steep and very fast curve. The turns around the hotel will be widened to make them faster. The organizers also specified that these modifications will aim to reduce tire wear.

The Yas Marina Circuit is already one of the most modern and impressive in Formula 1, and these changes will ensure that spectators will see a multitude of exciting races in all disciplines,” says Mark Hughes, a consultant who participated in the reflection on the modifications.
The organizers hope that the banking located at the end of the opposite straight line will become a benchmark. For his part, the CEO of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, is pleased with the announced changes and hopes they will help develop the show on the track.
The season has been amazing so far and we are looking forward to being there with the new layout, which will surely give the drivers the opportunity to maximize the show,” he said.
