Only less than a tenth of a second between Red Bull and Mercedes?
Christian Horner thinks there is only less than a tenth of a second between Red Bull and Mercedes. This is a rather close gap, especially as the fight for the world championship title is far from over.

The battle is raging at the top of the standings. While Max Verstappen has taken back the championship lead after his victory at home in the Netherlands, Lewis Hamilton is not far behind. After the race, the seven-time world champion admitted that his team’s strategy was not the best to catch up with the Dutchman.
This is Red Bull’s seventh victory in the last nine races. Mercedes has only won one victory during the same period. A win at Silverstone, while Verstappen ended his race in the first lap after a collision with Hamilton. In Zandvoort, the Briton had declared that the Austrian team seemed to have a head start, but this is not really the case according to Christian Horner, the boss of the Red Bull team.
« We qualify within a tenth of a second. And we seem to have a tenth, maybe two tenths ahead in the race. There will be circuits that will suit Mercedes and there will be circuits that will suit us during the final phase of this championship. We must therefore make sure to seize all opportunities. »
At the end of the race, only the first three cars were on the same lap. They passed all the other drivers, despite a significant gap between Hamilton and Bottas. Just like Horner, Toto Wolff believes that the gap is small between the two best cars in the paddock. However, he admits that one must always be performing well to compete with Red Bull this season.
There is nothing between the two teams. The first three cars have surpassed all the others, and it shows the level that must be deployed to win the championship. We just have to be performant all the time.
