The Russian Grand Prix officially cancelled
Among the announcements made by the FIA regarding the sanctions taken against Russia, the official cancellation of the Grand Prix in Sochi was one of the most anticipated.

It is now official: Formula 1 will not go to Russia in 2022. The FIA, like other global sports institutions, has decided to impose sanctions against Russia and Russians. It has been decided to cancel all motor racing events in the territories of Russia and Belarus. This confirms the cancellation of the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix, which was scheduled to take place on September 25th.
Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen were the first to call for the boycott of the Russian event before it was initially suspended.
The question now arises as to which circuit will fill the gap in the 2022 calendar between the Italian Grand Prix and the Singapore Grand Prix. It should be noted that the 2022 Russian Grand Prix was supposed to be the last one held in Sochi, as the Igora Drive circuit, north of Saint Petersburg, is still supposed to host it next year.
