Günther Steiner’s flirtatious signal to Ricciardo: (He) will call me (if) he is interested
Günther Steiner admits that it would be a big success if Daniel Ricciardo, without a seat for next year, joined Haas. But he warns that he won't chase after him.

Pushed towards the exit by McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo is currently left without a seat in Formula 1 for next season. A situation that the Australian driver seems to have accepted, as he is already focusing on 2024.”
The one who wears the number 3 could, however, find an emergency exit with… Haas. At least, that’s what the Team Principal of the team, Günther Steiner, suggests. If he is interested in us, he won’t hesitate to call me, he said to the Associated Press. Before specifying that he won’t chase after him, in his own unique style.
As the American team arrives on its home soil this weekend in Austin for the United States Grand Prix, it is also one of the few, along with Williams, to still have a seat available for next season. Mick Schumacher’s contract is indeed coming to an end at the end of this year. While the German driver is currently in negotiations to be renewed at Haas, the team’s CEO, Gene Haas, has some reservations due to the « cost » it incurs because of the numerous cars that have been destroyed. The American boss has admitted to having discussions with other drivers regarding the still vacant seat… conversations that do not include Daniel Ricciardo.
A big potential move for Haas.
On his side, Günther Steiner indicates that he had little contact with the Australian since the “Oscar Piastri saga” this summer. But he admits to having an interest in the future-former McLaren driver. For us, he would be a big success. He was a race winner and now he is unemployed, said the Haas team principal. He won a race last year. I rate him as a driver, I have no idea why he is not performing well at the moment. It’s up to him to figure it out.
Günther Steiner believes that Daniel Ricciardo should first focus on his own desires before diving headfirst into another team. “I want him to decide what he wants to do for himself,” Steiner says, “before being convinced of something. I think he needs to be honest with himself and decide what he is going to do,” he notes.
Regarding the other team with a vacant seat, Daniel Ricciardo has little chance of landing at Williams, where Logan Sargeant is the top favorite to replace Nicholas Latifi. The American Formula 2 driver will in fact take part in the first free practice session this Friday, in front of his local crowd. This will mark the debut of the Williams Academy driver in Formula 1, as he hopes to obtain his Super License at the end of the season to secure a full-time position next year. “I’m excited to make the most of this experience,” the American had declared when his participation in FP1 in Austin was announced.
