Mattia Binotto has already been approached by other F1 teams
Scuderia Ferrari director Mattia Binotto has resigned from his post, the Italian team announced on Tuesday. Other Formula 1 teams have reportedly expressed interest in the experienced technician.

We can only make assumptions, since the announcement of his departure is still fresh. What we know is that the Swiss-Italian will now enter a period of “gardening leave” – this means that he will not go to work during his notice period, but will continue to be paid by Ferrari during this time. According to Formula1.com journalists, this notice period is expected to last more than six months.
If he will still be listed on the payrolls at Ferrari, nothing is preventing Mattia Binotto from offering his services to another team. Several sources are already reporting that teams have expressed interest in the technician, notably Aston Martin and Alpine. According to the Italian website Formula1a.uno, four teams have their sights set on the former Scuderia director, including a top-ranking team that could be Mercedes.
The rumors also mention Audi, a perfectly viable option as the German manufacturer could benefit from Binotto’s leadership and technical expertise to prepare its entry into F1 in 2026, as Sauber’s engine supplier, replacing Alfa Romeo on the grid.
We have seen that Mattia Binotto has almost three decades of experience in motorsport under his belt. He has shown that he can effectively restructure a team and evolve its culture. Regardless of the strategic mistakes made by the Scuderia this year, his management of the dynamics between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz has been nothing short of impressive. However, history may remember the Swiss-Italian’s poor decisions and his failure to maximize the performance of a fast and competitive car for much of the 2022 season, before fading away like a flash in the pan…
