Alesi envisions “a rotation” with Spa, Imola, or Austria for the French Grand Prix
For the president of the Paul Ricard circuit, Jean Alesi, the idea of alternating with another country to bring back the French Grand Prix is possible.

After four editions of the French Grand Prix, from 2018 to 2021, the F1 authorities have decided not to renew the contract with the Paul Ricard circuit.
Alesi once again criticizes the French government
The former Ferrari driver, Jean Alesi, who is now the president of the Var circuit, reaffirms once again that the issue with the disappearance of Formula 1 in France was not only financial but also political.
« Today, Formula 1 is 32 countries requesting to have a Grand Prix on their territory, but there are only 23 Grand Prix, French commentator for Eurosport explains, as he already mentioned in Bahrain a few weeks ago.
« So, they [the F1] are forced to say no to people who are almost kneeling before them saying, “please, come, come, come, we welcome you with open arms.” This is not the case in France. »
« Over the past five years – except for the Covid year, of course – we had a Grand Prix that was very successful, but was snubbed by our politicians. I’m not referring to those from the region, because it’s thanks to them that F1 was able to return, but not having a president on a Formula 1 grid today is frowned upon. »
« It’s normal, because when you go to any Grand Prix, if you don’t have the king, the prime minister, if you don’t have the president, something is wrong. »
So, everyone uses F1 to promote the image of car racing in their country.
Alternate every other year
As mentioned earlier, as stated by the boss of the Hockenheim circuit, Alesi also seems interested in the idea of rotating races with other countries.
Today, with this enthusiasm, we have been able to see 350,000 spectators, 450,000 spectators at the latest Grand Prix. These are records that are being broken.
Maybe in Europe there will be a new way of looking at F1, meaning that we might have alternating countries hosting the races.
This will also help save money, and maybe Spa or an Austrian GP or Imola will alternate with us. Everything is on the table.
