After a difficult start to the season, McLaren is making a comeback. With improvements made in Austria and at Silverstone, the British team is getting closer to the current best car, that of Max Verstappen.

« I think it’s good for Formula 1 that in one weekend, you have a team that is the second fastest and the following weekend, they struggle to get out of Q1. That’s the competition we’re looking for in F1, so someone will eventually catch up to Max. I hope it will be us, there’s a strong possibility that it will be a handful of people, says Zak Brown, the director of the McLaren team.

For the team manager of the Woking stable, without Max Verstappen, Formula 1 would be tighter than ever: “I think that if we exclude Max, the field is incredibly condensed. I think it will become more and more exciting as we progress through the season,” said the 51-year-old man during the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

To get closer to the double world champion, McLaren will bring new elements this weekend in Hungary to exploit the full potential of its cars.

With these improvements, McLaren could be one of the teams capable of beating Red Bull, who have just achieved 11 consecutive victories, equaling the record previously held by … McLaren.
