Alpine F1 “not for sale”
In an interview, Bruno Famin, Managing Director of Alpine, denied rumors of a possible sale of the company.

The French factory team is having a tough start to the season. Alpine is at the bottom of the constructors’ championship, with no points to their name in 2024. They have failed to finish in the top 10 in any of the first four Grand Prix races and have only made it out of Q1 twice. Their best grid position remains a modest 15th place.
The Franco-British team seems to have the least competitive car on the grid. Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly finished in the modest 15th and 16th places at the Grand Prix of Japan. Neither of the two drivers managed to achieve a position higher than 13th place in the first four races.
This has been an incredibly eventful year for Alpine, with the departure of its CEO Laurent Rossi, team principal Otmar Szafnauer, sporting director Alan Permane, and technical director Pat Fry.
After finishing fourth in 2022, they aim to target the top three, currently occupied by Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes. Instead, they are at the bottom and fighting to avoid last place.
Such a form could lead the board of directors of the Renault group to question its involvement in Formula 1, but this is not the case, according to the team manager Bruno Famin.
We are not for sale
We have a real project with Alpine, Famin declared during an interview for Formula 1. We have the project of developing the reputation of the Alpine brand on a global scale through motorsport and Formula 1 in particular.
« We have full support from top management. The team is absolutely not for sale. We will continue to push to achieve our goals.
Bruno Famin took over the team’s management last year, following a series of changes in leadership. After the team’s nightmare start to the season, technical director Matt Harman and aerodynamics chief Dirk de Beer also left.
« This is not a fun period,” Famin declared. “We are not where we want to be in terms of performance. We are not aiming to be P15 or P16. We want to be ahead. We want to develop the car’s performance and we want to fight for podiums and victories as soon as possible.”
Alpine still hopes to recover this year
Famin remains determined that Alpine can bounce back after its sad start to the year. He understands that this will not happen overnight, but he is confident that the project will have time to succeed.
(e) Everyone [within the board of directors] understands that this is not an easy challenge. It is a very difficult challenge, we owe a lot of respect to our competitors. To move forward, we must raise the bar, raise our level, we must improve ourselves.
« In the story, our team, previously under the Renault brand, at the beginning of the project in the 1970s, everyone made fun of us, and we were strong in those moments.
« We want to take advantage of these difficult times now. We know that everyone has highs and lows. We are in a bad position, but we will make the most of the opportunity to become stronger very soon and will certainly make the necessary changes within the team to achieve our goals.
He added that: « The car we have now is the result of previous management. But what is important is what we are doing now. And I am pleased with what we are doing. Of course, the road is very long and we have a lot to improve.
« After such a bad start, it would normally be tempting to throw in the towel with this year’s car and focus on next year’s success but we are in an unusual cycle.
The teams will keep this year’s car for next season, with very few modifications, as most of their resources will be dedicated to the 2026 single-seater, which will be built according to different aerodynamic rules, as well as new regulations on power units that put more emphasis on electrical power and the mandatory use of 100% sustainable fuels.
This means that for now, Alpine will bring improvements to this year’s car in order to save its campaign. A new package is expected for the sixth race in Miami. More updates are expected later on.
