Pirelli has carried out its fourth test session this season, the objective is to develop the tires for next season. After the tests conducted in Barcelona, Jerez and Suzuka, it was at the Circuit du Paul Ricard that this session took place, the day after the Monaco Grand Prix.

Ferrari arrived in the south of France with its two drivers, Carlos Sainz and the winner of his home Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc. The program includes two days of testing, Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Tuesday’s first day, Carlos Sainz worked on the new soft compounds, with the aim for Pirelli to reduce overheating. The Spaniard completed 138 laps covering a distance of 768 kilometers.

Wednesday, it was Charles Leclerc’s turn on an artificially wet track, allowing to work on intermediate tires. He drove on the short 3.5 km track with a volume of water on the track that varied to reproduce as faithfully as possible the conditions encountered in the race. He completed 160 laps, equivalent to 585 kilometers.

It should be noted that during test sessions, the team on the track is working for Pirelli and cannot make any changes to its car. The data collected is then shared among all the teams on the grid.
