While the return of Formula 1 to Las Vegas last season after 41 years of absence resulted in a mixed assessment, the organizers plan to go big this year. An incident that occurred in FP1 due to a sewer grate had disrupted the course of the weekend in 2023 and disrupted the weekend schedule, with spectators present on Thursday only witnessing 6 minutes of Free Practice 1. “We know what we need to do before the Grand Prix this year,” said Emily Prazer, Commercial Director of F1 and the Las Vegas GP.

The support races to the championship had to be canceled last year, for logistical reasons, and will therefore make their appearance in Nevada with the introduction of the Ferrari Challenge, a race dedicated to the prancing horse brand. « We are adding the Ferrari Challenge. So, it will be on the program, and we are super excited about it. We took into account the feedback from last year about the absence of a support race. Logistics last year was our main concern, which everyone understood well. » announces Emily Prazer.

Many non-sporting activities on the program

Her new partner for the weekend, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), will also offer a festival for the Friday and Saturday. Ticketing, free of charge, is already sold out. « The free tickets […] have all been reserved, with a capacity of 30,000 people per day, while the championship aims to follow in the footsteps of the Super Bowl held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in February. » she says.

Other remarkable attractions will be set up to accompany the event, the most unexpected of which will be an ice rink installed on the roof of the F1 Paddock Club, right in the heart of the desert. You would never see us do this elsewhere. But the idea is to see how we can create a more interesting entertainment proposition, says the leader.

Critiqued by some drivers before the race, like Max Verstappen, the Las Vegas Grand Prix finally gave way to a great show, setting the record for overtakes in a race last season. Organizers hope to iron out the imperfections of last year and that the party will be complete, both for the drivers and the spectators.
