The Race of Champions (ROC) 2025 will see Mick Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel joining forces to defend the colors of Germany. The event will take place for the first time in the southern hemisphere, at the Accor Stadium in Sydney, on March 7 and 8, an iconic venue that hosted the Olympic Games in 2000.

The two German drivers are no strangers to this annual competition, launched in 1988, as Schumacher had stood out by clinching second place during the 2023 edition, while Vettel had also finished second in 2022.

The return of an iconic duo

This will be the fourth opportunity for the duo to represent Germany as teammates at the ROC. They will compete against drivers from various disciplines, including single-seaters, rally, and endurance, in a competition that brings together the best talents in the world of motor sports.

Always in search of a return to Formula 1, and potentially in the running for a seat at Audi, Mick Schumacher shared his enthusiasm: « Australia is one of my favorite places and representing Germany with Sebastian at ROC Sydney will surely be a great pleasure. After finishing 2nd at the ROC individual in Sweden in 2023 and at the ROC Nations Cup in ROC Mexico with Seb, the goal this time must be to win the trophy, both in the ROC Nations Cup on Friday night and in the Race of Champions individual on Saturday. »

« I look forward to meeting all the other drivers and spending time with them during the Race of Champions weekend in Sydney. I am sure that the drivers will have a great time together and offer a great show to Australian fans », he added.

On his side, Sebastian Vettel, winner of the Race of Champions in 2015 in London, emphasized the importance of this event for him: “I am delighted to be back at the Race of Champions and to team up again with Mick. It will be exciting to race in the old Olympic Stadium in Sydney, which seems to be an ideal venue for the Race of Champions.”

Objective victory for both men

Vettel also shared his passion for the event and his determination to shine alongside Mick Schumacher: « All drivers who have the honor of participating in the ROC fall in love with the event, as it reminds us why we started racing: pure competition, and of course, with identical cars, there are no excuses. I will do everything possible to help Germany win another ROC Nations Cup title with Mick on Friday night, but I won’t give him any gifts when we aim for the ultimate victory on Saturday night, especially as he beat me in the individual ROC semi-final in Sweden in 2023! »

At ROC, the competition is always intense on the track and everyone wants to win, but it’s also about creating a great show for the fans, he concluded.

Germany, the most successful team in the ROC Nations Cup with eight victories, hopes to expand its list of honours. Michael Schumacher, Mick’s father, contributed to six of these victories, even though he never won the individual title.

The Race of Champions 2025 promises a great meeting between the two men who will give their all to win a new title, while offering a great show to the fans.
