Alain Prost’s reaction after Max Verstappen’s 4th title
Alain Prost spoke out following Max Verstappen's victory in Las Vegas. The Dutchman now joins him in the very exclusive club of quadruple Formula 1 World Champions.

They are now three in this group of drivers who have won four Formula 1 world titles. Alain Prost (1985, 1986, 1989, and 1993), Sebastian Vettel (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013), and now Max Verstappen (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).
The French four-time world champion expressed his views on Max Verstappen’s victory . « It is a great pride in a way to be joined by Max [Verstappen] at the same time as Sebastian [Vettel], people and drivers that I appreciate », said Alain Prost on Canal+.
« This year, the championship was very different for Max, but it reflects exactly what Max has become over the years. » Indeed, this championship has not been easy for the Red Bull driver who faced a difficult second half of the season, after dominating in the early part of the year.
It has become a more than complete pilot
Alain Prost also highlighted the challenges Max Verstappen has had to face this season, before describing him as certainly one of the best in history.
« This year, he showed nevertheless something a little different. So, needless to say, he totally deserves his title. When you consider everything that has happened since the beginning of the year, on a sporting level, on an extra-sporting level, the car that was quite good at the start and then, in an incomprehensible way, is no longer performing.
If you don’t have a driver like Max Verstappen in a team like this one, well, it can really fall apart. He has shown a lot of composure, a lot of calm, again on the track and off, and he has become a more than complete driver, certainly one of the best, of course, in history. So very proud to be joining the very exclusive club of the four titles.
Despite the criticism, Max Verstappen has been able to demonstrate through his driving skills the champion he could be. Will he join Juan Manuel Fangio, with a fifth title next season?
