Yuki Tsunoda: “I had no trouble adapting” to the Red Bull during post-season testing in Abu Dhabi
Yuki Tsunoda expressed satisfaction with his performance with Red Bull during the post-season tests in Abu Dhabi.

Yuki Tsunoda finally had the opportunity to drive for Red Bull, participating in the Pirelli tire tests after the season, at the Yas Marina circuit. He completed 127 laps at the wheel of the RB20, posting the 17th best time of the day.
The Japanese driver was seeking to impress the Red Bull officials before a crucial decision regarding the team’s lineup for the next season.
Red Bull is still evaluating the possibility of replacing Sergio Perez and, if so, choosing between several candidates. Liam Lawson is considered the favorite to succeed the Mexican, but Yuki Tsunoda remains a serious contender.
Red Bull officials reportedly held a meeting to discuss their team for next year. Sergio Perez’s concerning performances have led them to consider promoting Liam Lawson or Yuki Tsunoda.
Although Yuki Tsunoda showed an advantage on track, Red Bull was impressed by how quickly Liam Lawson adapted, despite his limited experience in F1. Red Bull finished third in the Constructors’ Championship in 2024, their worst result since 2019.
Tsunoda enjoyed driving the Red Bull.
Returning to his performance in the Red Bull in Abu Dhabi, Yuki Tsunoda stated: « The post-season tests in Abu Dhabi were a lot of fun today, it’s the first time in four years that I’ve driven a different car. »
« You can physically feel why the RB20 fought for a championship this year, it’s a very different car to drive. We’ve had a very proactive day today, and I’m really happy about that. I still have a lot to learn, but the team did an excellent job preparing such a successful day; the atmosphere in the garage has been very pleasant. »
« I think the car suits my driving style, and I didn’t have much trouble adapting. Even on long stints, I was able to drive consistently and feel the limits of the car, which is impossible if you don’t have confidence in it. Right now, I am happier than ever, and ensuring the team gets the necessary information at each stint is the most important thing today. »
