Isack Hadjar becomes the third French driver on the 2025 F1 grid
Isack Hadjar has just been promoted to Racing Bulls and will make his F1 debut next season. He will be the third Frenchman on the grid, a first since 2020.

Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon will no longer be the only French drivers on the F1 grid in 2025. The two Normans will be joined by the young rookie, Isack Hadjar. Vice-champion of Formula 2 in 2024, the Red Bull protégé has secured a Formula 1 seat with Racing Bulls.
First, there was the official announcement of the departure of Mexican Sergio Perez, followed by the promotion of Liam Lawson to the main team to replace him, and then Isack Hadjar as a regular driver at Racing Bulls. The Frenchman will team up with Yuki Tsunoda, who had hoped to be alongside Max Verstappen in the main team.
Isack Hadjar thus becomes the first Frenchman to be promoted to a full-time position in Formula 1 since Pierre Gasly at Toro Rosso (currently Racing Bulls). He is also the 19th driver from the Red Bull Junior Team to reach Formula 1.
France, second in the ranking
In total, there will be 13 nationalities represented next season. The 2025 grid by nationality: United Kingdom: 4, France: 3, Australia: 2, Spain: 2, Netherlands: 1, Monaco: 1, New Zealand: 1, Italy: 1, Canada: 1, Japan: 1, Germany: 1, Brazil: 1, Thailand: 1.
The French have been present without interruption since 2012. We have to go back to the 2020 season to find three French drivers on the grid. There were already Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, who were racing alongside Romain Grosjean.
With three drivers on the grid, France ranks just behind the United Kingdom, which will be represented by four drivers: George Russell, Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, and Oliver Bearman.
The Parisian will become the 81st French driver to compete in a Formula 1 Grand Prix next season.
