Lando Norris declares he is ready to challenge everyone to secure a first world title in F1 in 2025, as he aims for his first Formula 1 world championship title in 2025.

The McLaren driver finished second in the 2024 championship, 63 points behind Max Verstappen, crowned champion for the fourth consecutive time, two races before the end of the season.

Lando Norris determined

After having completed his best F1 campaign to date and helped McLaren win the Constructors’ Championship, the 25-year-old Briton, who achieved four wins and eight poles, is determined to take another step forward this season.

« When you realize it’s over, it’s a hard blow », Lando Norris confided to the BBC podcast F1: Back at Base. « Since I was a child, this is all I wanted to do. So, when that flame goes out and it’s all over, it hurts. »

But this year, I am quite proud of my performances, of having managed the pressure, of delivering when it was needed. I made mistakes, but I learned a lot from those mistakes. Going into next season, I know we have what it takes. I believe that I am a good enough driver and that I have everything it takes, he explains.

« I am excited about approaching 2025 knowing that I have learned a lot, improved myself, and am ready to fight everyone.

McLaren needs to raise the bar for 2025.

Despite the constructors’ title, a first since 1998, and ending the season with the fastest car, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella insists on the need to remain vigilant.

« It would be incredibly naive to think that because we won the constructors’ championship, we also deserve it for the future », said Andrea Stella on the same podcast.

« You have to earn it by doing a good job, even a better job than what was done in 2024. In 2024, our average performance advantage was 0.04%, and our lead in points was only 2%. With 666 points in total over a season, these margins simply mean that if we don’t do better next year, we must be ready to accept defeat. »

« But we don’t want to lose. We want to keep winning. Therefore, we need to raise the bar for the future. »
