Tsunoda-Gasly: A costly double abandonment for both teams
No sooner had the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix got underway than the Tsunoda-Gasly duo collided in the first few corners. It was a frustrating incident that sent the Red Bull driver back into the black... and cost Alpine dearly.

The 2025 Jeddah Grand Prix was marked by an extremely hectic start. In the first few corners, Yuki Tsunoda, attempting to overtake Pierre Gasly, lost control of his car and collided with the Frenchman’s Alpine. This contact in the early moments of the race caused significant damage to both cars.
This incident had direct consequences not only on the drivers involved but also on the team standings. Red Bull was unable to secure many points due to this incident. Only Max Verstappen contributed to the team’s tally.
On the Alpine side, Pierre Gasly carried the hopes of the Franco-British brand. In the end, it was another dead loss for the team. With another retirement, the French team is once again penalized in its quest for crucial points, which could have repercussions for the rest of the season.
