Miami Grand Prix extends its F1 contract until 2041
On Friday, Formula 1 announced a ten-year extension to the Miami Grand Prix, taking its contract to 2041. A strategic decision that confirms F1's long-term presence in the United States, where the popularity of the sport continues to grow.

Formula 1 has announced the extension of the Miami Grand Prix contract until 2041, adding ten more years to the initial ten-year agreement signed when the race was introduced in 2022. This extension makes the Miami Grand Prix the longest-running event on the current F1 calendar.
The announcement was made on Friday, May 2, 2025, just before the start of the only free practice session, by Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of F1, and Tom Garfinkel, CEO of South Florida Motorsports and CEO of the Miami Dolphins. The Miami Grand Prix circuit takes place around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
“In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar,” said Stefano Domenicali. “Extending this agreement until 2041 is a hugely important strategic step, which strengthens our presence in America and solidifies the ever-deepening connection with our fan base there, which is constantly growing and more passionate than ever before.”
A significant economic impact for the region
Since its first edition in 2022, the Miami Grand Prix has generated over $1 billion in economic impact for the South Florida region. The 2024 edition attracted 275,000 spectators over the weekend and set a U.S. television audience record with 3.1 million viewers.
Tom Garfinkel emphasized that this extension will allow for further investment in the event and facilities, with the potential to transform the Hard Rock Stadium complex into a major hub for motorsports.
« Securing a 10-year extension with Formula 1 until 2041 is an extraordinary step for all of us at South Florida Motorsports, said Garfinkel. « This long-term commitment allows us to continue innovating, investing in the fan experience, and deepening our impact across South Florida. » Among the investments, there is the construction of a building dedicated to the paddock.
A strategy for expansion in the American market
With this extension, Miami joins Austin and Las Vegas as one of the three Formula 1 races held in the United States. This decision aligns with Liberty Media’s strategy, the owner of F1, to strengthen the sport’s presence in the American market, particularly due to the success of the Netflix series “Drive to Survive” and the anticipation of the upcoming F1 film with Brad Pitt slated for next month.
The extension of the Miami Grand Prix until 2041 demonstrates Formula 1’s commitment to expanding its fan base in the United States and providing world-class events that reflect Miami’s vibrant and inclusive spirit.
