Lance Stroll and his love for Imola, « Imola is a circuit I’ve always loved »
At the May 15, 2025 press conference, Lance Stroll expressed his deep attachment to the Imola circuit. A sobering statement, but one that reveals the special bond some drivers have with places steeped in history.

The Aston Martin driver was full of praise for the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari. When asked what he thought about returning to Imola, he answered simply but with a smile:
« It’s a circuit that I have always loved.
A short sentence, but one that speaks volumes. At a time when many modern circuits rely on state-of-the-art infrastructure and sanitized layouts, Imola retains a particular charm. With its iconic corners – Tamburello, Acque Minerali, or Rivazza – and an old school rhythm, the Italian circuit remains a favorite among purists. And evidently, also among drivers.
A place of memory, but also of performance
Stroll has never hidden his affection for old-style circuits, and Imola is one of them. His return here inevitably brings back youthful memories, but also memories of competition. In 2022, he delivered a great performance in the rain, holding strong in changing conditions.
« It’s a circuit I always like.
It is this consistency in the love for pure driving that shines through in him, even in a context where his team, Aston Martin, is experiencing a more irregular season.
A unique atmosphere on the banks of the Santerno
The atmosphere in Imola also plays a role. Just a stone’s throw from Maranello, it’s a circuit that exudes racing and emotion, where the stands vibrate with every lap. For a driver like Stroll, this brings an energy that’s hard to find elsewhere. Racing here is reconnecting with the very DNA of F1.
An opportunity to bounce back?
As criticisms mount around his performances, Imola could also mark a turning point for Stroll. The Canadian, in search of consistency this season, could take advantage of this circuit he loves to remind everyone that he’s not just the son of his father, but a driver capable of delivering real standout performances. A strong showing at Imola would be more than just a symbol: it would be an answer on the track.
