Sauber unveils unique “Glitched Out” livery for Spanish Grand Prix
For the Spanish Grand Prix 2025, Sauber presents a special livery entitled "Glitched Out", a pixelated version of its traditional neon green and black color scheme. This initiative is in line with the team's desire to make its mark with bold designs, while remaining true to its visual identity.

For the second time this season, Sauber is presenting an alternative livery at a Grand Prix, following an initial notable variation at the Miami Grand Prix. This time, the Swiss team adopts a decidedly modern style with its “Glitched Out” design, where the classic bright green and black are reinterpreted in a pixelated pattern reminiscent of a “bugged” or glitched image, similar to a computer screen.
This digital aesthetic extends well beyond the bodywork: drivers Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will wear matching suits, and even the pit equipment has been redesigned to match this unique visual ambiance. It’s a way for Sauber to offer an immersive experience to fans while asserting its identity in the paddock.
This artistic approach is part of a broader trend in Formula 1, where several teams choose to vary their liveries for certain events to enhance their media visibility and connection with supporters.
Performances in search of a boost
In terms of sports, Sauber approaches the Spanish Grand Prix with the aim of moving up in the standings. Currently in last place in the championship, the Swiss team scored its only points at the very beginning of the season in Melbourne, with a 7th place achieved by Nico Hülkenberg.
The Barcelona race is often a crucial meeting for teams seeking development, as the track requires good aerodynamic efficiency and mechanical balance. Sauber is taking advantage this year to introduce a major update on its C45 car, notably to take advantage of regulatory changes related to stricter front wing deflection tests imposed by the FIA from this weekend onwards.
Jonathan Wheatley, the team director, insisted on the importance of this step: « Barcelona should give us a clear picture of how our new upgrade package will affect our competitiveness. The team has worked hard back home in Hinwil and our goal is to get acquainted with the new parts in order to put ourselves in a more competitive position as we approach the next phase of the season. »
The challenge of a 2025 season full of uncertainties
The 2025 Formula 1 season remains very open, with several teams in the running for the podium as well as places in the top 10. In this context, every technical evolution, every detail counts, and Sauber hopes that its improved package, combined with the motivational effect generated by this “Glitched Out” livery, will help to revive its momentum.
Gabriel Bortoleto, a promising young driver promoted this year, seeks to gain experience and realize the Swiss team’s efforts. Sauber intends to capitalize on this dual approach, both aesthetic and technical, to straighten the course.
