Joshua Dürksen will long remember this Saturday in Baku. The Paraguayan from AIX Racing won the first victory of his F2 career in Azerbaijan. With an eight-second lead towards the end, he could have been caught off guard after the safety car appeared, which pulled away with only four laps remaining. But the 20-year-old driver continued to dominate the race and easily prevailed with over three seconds ahead of Jak Crawford (DAMS Lucas Oil) and Gabriele Mini (PREMA Racing).

The Italian, who will replace Oliver Bearman for this weekend, has therefore clinched a podium for his first race in this category. The F3 vice-world champion had to battle to keep his third place, under pressure from Victor Martins. Failing to overtake Mini, the Frenchman attempted a final move in the last straight but ultimately failed by 0.02 seconds to beat his opponent.

Hadjar under Bortoleto’s threat

Penalized for causing a red flag during qualifying, Isack Hadjar knew that the task would be tough on Saturday starting 20th. The championship leader failed to make a comeback into the points, crossing the finish line in 12th position.

The Frenchman sees Gabriel Bortoleto come back to 6.5 points behind him in the general standings. The Brazilian took 5th place in this sprint race. He will have a new opportunity to gain points on Hadjar this Sunday in the race (9:35 am, French time).
