Sophia Flörsch would like to see more women at Le Mans
The German driver believes that the number of girls involved in motorsport could increase, but the road ahead is still long.

This year, there are only five of them in Le Mans: Lilou Wadoux, Sophia Flörsch, Rahel Frey, Michelle Gatling, and Sarah Bovy. For the past few years, their presence has been increasingly noticed, but it’s not enough for the Algarve Pro Racing driver.
“It is one of my goals to have more women in motorsport,” the German driver told us. “Whether as journalists, mechanics, engineers, or drivers, there should be more of them. I am trying to work towards having more of them. This year, we are only five out of more than 150 drivers, it’s very sad, but I hope it will evolve.”
Even if women drivers are increasingly present in motorsport, and in motorsports in general, it is not always easy for them to achieve their dream. It is very complicated for us to reach the highest level. There is a certain form of dominance and we have to fight to impose respect. Fighting is very complicated and it is one of our biggest disadvantages.

It will take a few years, we are taking it step by step, but we will get there. »
