At the 6 Hours of Imola, Porsche fought hard, but was not far behind
With the exception of a light patch of sunshine from the #6, Porsche was not up to scratch at Imola. The Stuttgart-based manufacturer is not as strong as it was in 2024.
Only one car in the top 10. In Imola, the Porsche 963s struggled once again. Poorly qualified, the hypercars were almost unable to make up for this delay during the race. While at one point, the #6 managed to perform well, it couldn’t hold off the Ferrari #51 for long.
Except for this bright spot, the car that was world champion last year finished in a meager eighth place. « We had a very clean race and even led the pack at certain moments. In the end, we scored points in the world championship. Obviously, we would have preferred to finish higher in the standings, but the result reflects our performance compared to the competition. We really did our best today », assessed Matt Campbell from the #6.

If the situation was difficult within car #6, it was worse in the sister car. It never really appeared on screen and delivered a rather straightforward race. Without major action. It was never able to trouble anyone.
“It was difficult and ultimately disappointing. I expected a slightly better result. We were on the right track to finish in the top 5, but that wasn’t the case. We now need to see where we can improve our performance and strategy,” said Mathieu Jaminet of the #5, who only secured the 11th position.
Porsche’s level at the start of this season is almost worrying. We know that to rebalance the chances, the BoP for Stuttgart’s cars is tougher than in 2024, but in the end, it has been very strict. Despite a rebalancing for this Italian weekend, the German teams remain well below the expected performances.
With only 12 points in the constructors’ standings, the chances of winning the title against Ferrari, which has 80 more, seem almost nonexistent. Unless there is a very quick surge of pride, it will almost already be time to look towards 2026.
