A quiet race but important points for Peugeot at the 6 Hours of Imola
For the second time in a row this season, Peugeot has scored points. This proves that the 9X8 has evolved, but there's still work to be done.

A relatively discreet race. At Imola, the 9X8s did not stand out. At least, except in the collisions they were involved in. In the first part of the race, the #94 sent the Cadillac off the track during an overtaking attempt at Acque Minerali. Then, later on, the sister car spun off, pushed by a Cadillac.
At times, we could see a very good pace from the French cars, which managed to climb from the second half of the field to the first. But against the Alpines, it is still difficult to resist.
« After the spin of the #93 car caused by another competitor, it was difficult to get back into the race, and we were unlucky during a safety car. The outcome is quite mixed with good qualifications, for example, and a bit of disappointment in the race. We didn’t manage to position ourselves in the right groups of cars during the race, and on a circuit as difficult to overtake as Imola, that’s what prevented us from achieving a better result today, despite a pace that was improving on a clear track », recalled Olivier Jansonnie, technical director of Peugeot Sport.

In the end, the #93 managed to reach the points zone. A notable and positive result. With a second consecutive finish in the top 10, Peugeot seems to be starting to find the operating instructions for this hypercar. The 6 Hours of Imola 2024 had been the first race for the new generation 9X8. This performance clearly shows that the car has evolved and progressed over one season.
This 9th place is not a great result, but it’s so tight in the middle of the pack that you can easily go from 5th to 15th position if you make the slightest strategic error, acknowledged Mikkel Jensen of the #93.
In the constructors’ standings, Peugeot occupies the second-to-last place, with 10 points. Only Aston Martin is behind, with a score of zero.
