The qualifying sessions follow each other but are different for the Star brand. In China, they dominated the front line, but now must settle for a fifth place by Nico Rosberg on the grid. While the recent Grand Prix winner in Shanghai can boast about saving a set of soft tires, his illustrious teammate can only lament the damage from a faulty DRS that left him stuck in Q1.

After several challenging races, the Indian team finally managed to make it to Q3, thanks to Paul di Resta, who preferred to conserve his tires rather than take risks at the end of the session. Nico Hülkenberg, slightly hampered by understeer, made an error and couldn't join his Scottish teammate.
Le 21/04, 15:24
Slightly edged out by Sebastian Vettel's Red Bull, Lewis Hamilton still feels satisfied with his lap and hopes to put pressure on the German at the first corner. Jenson Button, on the other hand, experienced balance issues and wasn't able to fully defend his chances.

Confirming Red Bull's resurgence, Sebastian Vettel secures pole position for the 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix, ahead of Lewis Hamilton's McLaren and his teammate, Mark Webber. Disappointment for Nico Rosberg, only fifth. Romain Grosjean is seventh.

If their times are not far off from those of their predecessors, Force India remains among the last teams in terms of pure performance. A situation that doesn't overly alarm the drivers, aware that their race pace may allow them to hope for better.
Le 14/04, 08:33
Always the last, the HRT team continues their slow improvement nevertheless, this time well below the critical 107% mark. While Pedro de la Rosa expressed satisfaction with his Q1, Narain Karthikeyan has some regrets after two imperfect stints.
Le 14/04, 07:26
In a qualifying session threatened by rain, Nico Rosberg delivered a rare performance by setting the fastest time, five-tenths ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher. The front row will therefore be monopolized by the Mercedes AMG, with Lewis Hamilton being penalized five places on the starting grid. Vettel was eliminated as early as Q2.
