Mercedes and Toto Wolff consider legal action in conflict of interest case if necessary
The conflict-of-interest investigation against Toto and Susie Wolff has been dropped by the FIA. However, Mercedes is likely to take legal action against the governing body and the media outlet BusinessF1, which defamed them.

The investigation into the potential conflict of interest involving the Wolff couple may not be completely finished. Last Tuesday, the FIA announced that an investigation had been opened against Toto Wolff, the executive director of Mercedes AMG F1 Team, and his wife Susie.
The fifty-year-old man is accused of having obtained confidential information about FOM activities. He would have obtained them through his wife, who, due to her position as CEO of the F1 Academy, was aware of them. This information was not originally available to the various F1 teams.
The other nine F1 teams all supported Toto Wolff by issuing nearly identical statements. « We can confirm that we did not file any complaint with the FIA regarding allegations of confidential information being transmitted between an F1 team principal and a member of the FOM staff », the teams explained.
Possible legal actions undertaken by Mercedes
In light of this unity among the F1 teams, the FIA has decided to drop the investigation into the Wolff couple. However, Mercedes has indicated that it may take legal action due to this case involving their executive director.
« We understand that there is significant media interest in the events of this week. We are currently engaged in active legal discussions with the FIA. We expect full transparency on what happened and why, and we expressly reserve all legal rights. Therefore, we ask for your understanding that we will not be making any official comments at this time, but we will certainly address the issue in due course », explained Toto Wolff.
Susie Wolff declared that she was either the target of a failed attempt to personally discredit me or a collateral damage in an unsuccessful attack against someone else.
