Jos Verstappen reacts to Newey’s departure
After the announcement of Adrian Newey's departure, Jos Verstappen reacted by stating that the Red Bull team was in crisis and that it "risks falling apart".

The father of the three-time world champion had already expressed doubts about his son’s future in the Red Bull team. Adrian Newey’s departure only confirmed his uncertainties.
This announcement shook the paddock before the Grand Prix in Miami, and inevitably, it was commented on during the press conference this Thursday. Jos Verstappen has already reacted, clearly indicating that the decision made by Newey will have a significant impact on the team.
« The team is at risk of falling apart,” he told the Dutch media De Telegraaf. « That’s what I feared at the beginning of the year. For internal peace, it is important that key people stay on board. This is not the case today. Adrian Newey is leaving and earlier in the year, it also seemed that Helmut Marko was going to be fired. This is not a good thing for the future. »
The situation was already very tense in the Austrian team for several months, with the Horner case and then the rumors that sidelined Red Bull consultant Helmut Marko, before the situation was clarified during a meeting with the Austrian management of the company.
Max Verstappen also spoke on the subject, stating that his future at Red Bull was clearly linked to that of his mentor and that he would not hesitate to leave with him, despite his contract which takes him until 2028. Jos Verstappen, for his part, had said that Christian Horner remaining at the helm of the team was a bad thing.
According to some rumors, the Verstappen family is said to have a meeting scheduled with Mercedes executives just after the Miami weekend, to discuss a possible transfer.
