Ferrari announced a multi-year agreement with Andretti Formula Racing to provide power units to the Cadillac Formula 1 team when it enters the championship in 2026.

The team, led by TWG Global, which recently took over the management of Andretti Global and General Motors, has been provisionally accepted to join the grid from 2026, although official confirmation is still pending. General Motors will operate the team under the Cadillac brand. In previous rejected projects under the Andretti name, it was announced that Cadillac wanted to develop its own power unit for F1.

However, the production of this power unit is only scheduled for 2028, making it necessary an interim supply solution, for the first two years of competition.

In a statement, Ferrari stated: Ferrari N.V. announces today a multi-year agreement, starting in 2026, with Andretti Formula Racing LLC, regarding the supply of power units and gearboxes to the racing team led by TWG Global and General Motors, subject to Andretti Formula Racing LLC receiving a written confirmation from the FIA – F1 validating its entry to the FIA Formula 1 World Championship 2026.

Mario Andretti, chairman of the board and 1978 world champion, had previously revealed an agreement with Renault to power the team. But the situation has evolved with the change in direction at Andretti Global and Renault’s decision to stop supplying engines in F1 to focus on using Mercedes engines for its Alpine team.

With this agreement, Ferrari will supply two customer teams from 2026: Cadillac and Haas, the latter remaining a close partner. Furthermore, Sauber, currently powered by Ferrari, will switch to Audi power units when the team becomes the official team of the German brand in 2026.

Last week, GM and TWG Global also announced the appointment of Graeme Lowdon, former director of the Virgin, Marussia, and Manor teams, as team director. His mission will be to guide the Cadillac project in its early stages of development.
