The first Grand Prix of the season is won by Jenson Button, ahead of Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Romain Grosjean retired as early as the second lap, falling victim to a collision with Pastor Maldonado who held sixth place for a long time before being involved in an accident in the very last lap.

Highly anticipated today, the McLarens did not disappoint as they claimed the front row, three-tenths ahead of Grosjean and his Lotus, and seven-tenths ahead of the Red Bulls. Lewis Hamilton secured the pole position on his first attempt in Q3, with Button missing by just a few thousandths.
