Despite an eventful British Grand Prix in F1, notably for Max Chilton, the Briton was able to reach the finish, just like Jules Bianchi who was well positioned for a while but couldn't compete against the Lotus and Sauber.

The Marussia team managed to get both of its drivers into Q2 at Silverstone thanks to a good strategy. Jules Bianchi secured the best starting grid position for the Russian team with his 12th place, just ahead of Chilton in 13th, but who will ultimately start 17th.

The two Lotus drivers stopped in Q2 even though the E22 seemed capable of doing better. Grosjean suffered from the yellow flags that appeared following Gutiérrez's off-track excursion, as did Maldonado, who also experienced a fuel issue, which led the race stewards to exclude him from the qualifying session.

Adrian Sutil finished Q1 with an off-track excursion into the gravel trap while he was qualified for Q2. Esteban Gutiérrez experienced a similar end by hitting the barrier at the end of Q2 while on a fast lap. A missed opportunity to perform well for both Sauber drivers at Silverstone.
