Valtteri Bottas is "proud" of Guanyu Zhou
F1. For his first Formula 1 race and his first with Alfa Romeo, Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou finished tenth in Bahrain, therefore scoring points.
Having such an experienced driver like Valtteri Bottas, former Mercedes driver, is a blessing for the team, but also for the rookie in the paddock who can benefit from the Finnish driver's advice. While Guanyu Zhou is the first Chinese driver to join the ranks of Formula 1, he has been particularly criticized for his role as a pay driver.
At the Bahrain Grand Prix, the two new teammates brought in the first points of the year for Alfa Romeo. Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas secured sixth place in the standings, while Guanyu Zhou achieved a remarkable tenth place finish in his debut in the premier category of motorsports.
Zhou mentioned a few weeks ago that he had a lot to learn from Bottas, after the five constructors' titles he contributed to deliver to Mercedes alongside Lewis Hamilton. It's a role that seems to suit the Finnish driver, who quickly reacted to his teammate's first points.
« Very proud of you dude, for the first points on your first race! » he declared on his social media. « And proud of Alfa Romeo for today! Let's keep going! ».
