The accidents of Vettel in Australia are "not normal"
F1. For Mike Krack, it is not normal that a driver of Sebastian Vettel's caliber has two major accidents in the same race weekend.
After two weekends of absence, the German Sebastian Vettel made his return to the Australian track. Replaced until now by Nico Hülkenberg, Vettel made a rather noticeable comeback in Melbourne. Responsible for a first accident during the final free practice session, Vettel once again hit a wall at the beginning of the race on Sunday.
Aston Martin's team principal, Mike Krack, admits the team's responsibility in these two accidents.
« First of all, I am glad that Seb is doing well after these incidents," said Mike Krack. "But I think that if someone like him, a four-time world champion, had this problem this weekend, it's not because of a lack of driving skills, because he was driving the car. It's something that we really need to look at, what car we can provide him, what feedback he can give us on the car."
For Krack, these two accidents are in no way due to Sebastian Vettel's absence in the previous two races. Until now, Aston Martin has never been truly competitive. The weaknesses of the AMR22 would lie in the weight and aerodynamics of the cars. Mike Krack mentioned progress regarding the weight, but admitted that solutions for the aerodynamics had not yet been found.
